Feb 24 – Mark 5:21-43
Edie Holzer
Jesus was approached by Jairus, one of the synagogue rulers, to come and heal his daughter. In those days, I’m sure Jairus was an important man in their society. He was powerful and probably always got what he asked for. Jesus went with him to his house. But on the way, he came across a woman who had a bleeding problem for many years and had spent all she had on doctors. She probably didn’t look good or smell good. In those days, women had no positions of importance or education. She didn’t ask to meet Jesus, she just wanted to touch his garment in faith that He would heal her.
Jesus responded to both of them with love. He didn’t treat the man any better than the woman, even though Jairus was a synagogue ruler and she was probably looked down on. Jesus loves us all the same. He has compassion on us all. He hears our prayers every day.
Psalm 103:8 & 13 says, “The Lord is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love. As a father loves his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear Him.”
We pray:
Thank you for loving each of us deeply. Thank you for always hearing our prayers, and offering life, forgiveness, healing, and love. Amen.
